The Horror Agenda
Hell House LLC (2015/2020)
Welcome to the Abaddon Hotel for this year's haunt Hell House. Yes, this week we are covering the 2015 mockumentary found footage film (and speaking to the Director's Cut (2020) as well.) The film written and directed by Stephen Cognetti.
A group of young folks go to upstate NY to set up and haunted house and things go wrong. Many missing and/or dead including staff. Years later, a documentary comes out about the events that night and for months in the lead up.
We reference several pieces in this episode listed below:
- a ScreenRant piece by Maisey Flowers (2020) about the Director's Cut
- a Dread Central interview by Mary Beth McAndrews (2023) with writer/director Stephen Cognetti before the release of Origins
- a Bloody Disgusting piece by Meagan Navarro about the end of the franchise and the forthcoming Hell House LLC: Lineage.
This week Victor recommends Bride by Ali Hazelwood a book about an alliance between vampyres and werewolves and features a paranormal romance.
Victor also recommends Heart Eyes (2025) the new rom com slasher from Josh Ruben about a killer who stalks and kills couples on Valentine's day.
Things come in three this week and Victor also recommends F*** Marry Kill (2025) about a young woman who, in this thriller comedy, suspects one of her dates is trying to kill her.
Carlos recommends the Hell House LLC franchise. We may cover another film before the release of Lineage. Be ready.
This Carlos also recommends Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024) the latest in the Dragon Age franchise where you rise as Rook and become a hero in this RPG set in a fantasy world.
Carlos also had three recommendations this week. He recommends the Backrooms episode of Sixteenth Minute (of Fame) the podcast by Jamie Loftus. This episode looks at the phenomenon of the backrooms and how it's grown and spread.
